We Do
Not every bride dreams of planning an over-the-top, three-ring-circus kind of wedding. You know what we mean – we’ve all been forced, errr… invited to attend at least one. There’s the crowds, caviar, big cakes, crying (not always tears of happiness), and often a casualty or two.

Kevin and Kari, on the other hand, dreamt of a beautifully stylish and intimate wedding day and knew precisely where it could be found. WSH, of course.

Let’s rewind a bit… We met this incredible couple in December 2011 and truly don’t think we’ll ever forget them because they were our first official guests at the Washington School House. Apparently they couldn’t shake thoughts of WSH, either. Whether it was the Pratesi linens, hearty mountain breakfasts, pool nestled in the hillside – there’s no telling what brought them back. Likely all those things and all the others, as well. Regardless, Kevin and Kari just couldn’t stay away, not even on their wedding day exactly one year later.

Yes, our first guests were also the romantic leads in our first wedding. And it was perfect in all ways.

Well, all ways except for the small detail of the missing wedding cake.

When you plan a very small, very intimate affair, like the one Kevin and Kari planned, one small flaw can turn into one bride’s endless nightmare – of the recurring variety. Yes, the bakery (we promise – not us) forgot to make their custom-ordered, much-desired, gluten-free, three-tier, pearl-garnished wedding cake.

Forget the dress. Really – it’s all about the cake. A fact our pastry chef, Kristin, believes with every cell of her body, sending her into action to turn a potential nightmare into a blissful batch of gorgeously delectable gluten-free cupcakes. Thus, the wedding day was saved and the New Year was celebrated with a couple of “I dos”, a kiss or two to seal the deal, and some very happy WSH guests.

The bottles of Nicolas Feullatte we just happened to have on hand were a perfect cupcake pairing and the new Mr. and Mrs. started both their marriage and luxurious honeymoon getaway – all within the walls of the Washington School House.

Luxury, chic design, excellent service, cupcakes in a pinch, bubbly, vows and more. We know what you’re thinking – do they do it all?

We do.
