Something to talk about
So, we hate to ring our own school bell (alright, maybe “hate” is a little strong – maybe we love it just a little), but we have some exciting news to share and have the fabulous state of Utah to thank for it. WSH was recently awarded the prestigious 2012 Heritage Award by the Utah Heritage Foundation.

While we started with something pretty fantastic – one of Park City’s original school houses -- our design and construction team of Trip Bennett, principal at La Jolla-based Bennett & Associates Architecture, Paul & Shannon Wehsener of San Diego-based Paul Allen Design, and Garner & Boswell General Contractors in Park City deserves a gold star for making us extraordinary.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Utah Heritage Foundation,” said Bennett. “The school house has always been of local historical significance and interest, so we worked tirelessly to adapt the structure to the 21st century while restoring and protecting the property’s original character and historic fabric.”

(Sure, this is press release speak. But Trip means it. He may have also added a “hot damn!” and a “THAT’S what I’m talkin’ ‘bout!” which did not make it into the final draft.)

How awesome is this award? Well, the Heritage Award honors preserved properties and organizations that exceed the challenges of preservation. Recipients are regarded as models for which other properties aspire and represent the sundry ways preservation is accomplished among communities.

That’s right… “models for which other properties aspire.” Their words. Not that we don’t agree.

Thanks, Utah. We’re honored.
